School’s out for summer, but it's not too late to receive tuition assistance from CEF. With many of the 27 CEF-funded schools located in underserved communities, the need for additional scholarships for students who enroll over the spring and summer is essential.
In a landmark decision last week, the United States Supreme Court ruled in Carson v. Makin that a state cannot discriminate against religious schools in its program of tuition assistance.
This is the second Supreme Court case in recent years affirming the validity of family choice in education, especially for parents choosing faith-based schools. CEF manages a scholarship program similar to the ones addressed by these high court decisions.
Catholic schools are seeing growth in enrollment as more families recognize the advantages of small communities, uplifting support and rigorous education enhanced by a faith-based environment.
CEF supports more than half of the Catholic schools in our Archdiocese with scholarships to provide tuition assistance for students. Families that seek a truly supportive environment for their students -- where children are taught to love and serve their neighbor, in addition to meeting rigorous academic standards -- will like what they see when they visit and explore our schools.

During the ‘21-’22 school year, CEF plans to provide a record $3 million in scholarship funding to low-income students.
