The Catholic Education Foundation provides three types of scholarships to help qualified K-12 students attend Catholic schools. All are privately funded by generous donors committed to providing opportunities for students who seek the benefits of a Catholic education. You can help make Catholic education possible for local, at-risk students by supporting CEF today. (Additional tuition assistance may be available directly from Catholic schools.)

Tuition-Assistance Scholarships

CEF's traditional tuition-assistance scholarships are awarded to students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and attend a qualifying CEF school. These scholarships are available to both new and returning students, with an average value of $1,500 per year. Families must apply for these scholarships directly at a participating CEF-supported Catholic school. The student’s family and school also contribute toward the student’s tuition and fees, making the program a three-way partnership for a successful educational outcome. Students and families who wish to apply should contact their school of interest.

Tax Credit Scholarships

CEF tax credit scholarships are awarded to new students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch under federal guidelines. Students must be Kansas residents and must be entering a Catholic school for the first time as a kindergartner, or as a transfer student in grades 1-8 who attended a KS public elementary or middle school in the previous school year. Qualifying students may use scholarship funds (which typically cover up to 80% of tuition and fees) to attend the Catholic school of their family’s choice within the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. The student’s family and school also contribute toward the student’s tuition and fees, making the program a three-way partnership for a successful educational outcome. Students and families who wish to apply should contact their school of interest.

The Catholic Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity, registered as a Kansas Scholarship Granting Organization to offer 75% Kansas state income tax credits to donors (individuals, corporations, banks and insurance companies) who contribute to our CEF Tax Credit Scholarship program. This is the only KS income tax credit program available in the Archdiocese.  Learn more about state tax credits here.

Guardian Angel Scholarships

The Catholic Education Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships for families at qualified schools experiencing unanticipated financial hardships during the school year. The Guardian Angel Scholarship covers tuition costs for the student for the remainder of the school year. Scholarship funds are allocated to existing Catholic school students upon request of their principal and after a review process. Guardian Angel Scholarships are funded by the generosity of our CEF Futures volunteers and donors. Students and families who wish to apply should contact their Catholic school principal.
