The Catholic Education Foundation provides three types of scholarships to help qualified K-12 students attend Catholic schools. All are privately funded by generous donors committed to providing opportunities for students who seek the benefits of a Catholic education.
Traditional, tuition-assistance scholarships are awarded to students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and attend a qualifying CEF school. A limited number of scholarships are available to both new and returning students, with an average value of $1,234 per year. The student’s family and school also contribute toward the student’s tuition and fees, making the program a three-way partnership for a successful educational outcome. Students and families who wish to apply should contact their school of interest.
Tax Credit Scholarships
Tax credit scholarships are awarded to students who are eligible for free lunch under federal guidelines. Students must be Kansas residents and be enrolled (or would be enrolled, if under the age of six) in one of 100 public schools selected by the State Dept. of Education. Qualifying students may use scholarship funds (which average $3,447 and cannot exceed $8,000 per year for high school students) to attend the Catholic school of their family’s choice (there are 42 within the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas). The student’s family and school also contribute toward the student’s tuition and fees, making the program a three-way partnership for a successful educational outcome. Students and families who wish to apply should contact their school of interest.
The Catholic Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity, registered as a Kansas Scholarship Granting Organization to offer 70% Kansas state income tax credits to donors (individuals, corporations, banks and insurance companies) who contribute to our CEF Tax Credit Scholarship program. Guardian Angel Scholarships
The Catholic Education Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships for families at qualified schools experiencing unanticipated financial hardships during the school year. The Guardian Angel Scholarship covers tuition costs for the student for the remainder of the school year. Scholarship funds are allocated to existing Catholic school students upon request of their principal and after a review process. Guardian Angel Scholarships are funded by the generosity of our CEF Futures volunteers and donors. Students and families who wish to apply should contact their Catholic school principal.
CEF Scholars Achieve Good Outcomes
The educational achievements of CEF scholarship students are significant, and the graduation rates are exceptional: 99% of CEF scholarship students graduate from high school, compared to only 77% of the students attending the closest neighboring school. Also, 97% enroll in college, compared to fewer than 40% from the neighborhood school (based on data from the Kansas Department of Education). If you'd like to support CEF scholarships for low-income students, please contribute to their success here.
