Two CEF Schools Win Governor's Achievement Award

Two CEF schools – Holy Cross Catholic School in Overland Park and St. Paul Catholic School in Olathe – have received the 2015 Governor’s Achievement Award, which honors the top performing schools in the State of Kansas.

“We are so proud of the students and staff at St. Paul Catholic School,” said Tonia Helm, Principal of St. Paul. “Out of 374 middle schools in the state of Kansas, only ten middle schools received this honor. This is definitely a testament to the dedication of the entire St. Paul teaching staff, the support of our parents, and the work ethic of our students!”

Holy Cross was one of only 36 elementary schools to receive the honor.

“Our teachers work diligently to provide a faith-filled academic environment for all students. The award acknowledges the academic success, and we are proud of it,” said Allison Carney, principal of Holy Cross.  “More importantly, we are proud of our students for their virtuous behavior, commitment to the Catholic faith, and their daily witness of Christ's love.”

To be eligible for the annual Governor’s Award, schools must receive building-level Assessment Performance Index Scores in the top 80 percent in math and reading, and be in the top 5 perfect of elementary, middle or high schools.

Put Catholic education within reach of every student.
