CEF Futures Celebrate Fundraiser Success

Our young professionals group, CEF Futures, raised nearly $6,000 for the CEF Guardian Angel Fund at their pickleball tournament on May 1st at Chicken N Pickle in North Kansas City.

This was the CEF Futures’ inaugural pickleball tournament. Seventeen teams participated in the event, which included a round robin, elimination rounds and a raffle. In the end, Andrew McKeegan and Tyler Badje, competing as PV Picklers, won the title of pickleball champions.

“It’s a great cause,” said McKeegan. “It was a great day and a great tournament.”

Presented by City Rent A Truck, the CEF Futures pickleball tournament was a fun, family-friendly event and an important opportunity for members to increase their support for the mission of the Catholic Education Foundation. Additional support was provided by courtside sponsors: Edward Jones - Matthew Heitmann, Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue, The Miller Group, Paradise Asphalt Maintenance and Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas. All proceeds from the tournament and raffle benefited the CEF Guardian Angel Fund, which provides financial support to students and families who experience hardship at any CEF schools during the school year.

With 65 active members, CEF Futures engages young Catholics, mid-20s through late-30s, who are passionate about philanthropy and supporting Catholic education. From organizing fundraising events to volunteering at CEF schools and their monthly giving program, Futures members share their time and talents throughout the year to further CEF’s work in Catholic schools in the Archdiocese.

“I see firsthand the importance of a good faith foundation in my own life,” said Chris Miller, chair of the CEF Futures. “The Catholic Education Foundation's laser-focused approach of providing opportunities to any child or family that wishes to have a Christ-centered education was a very easy mission for me to get behind and be passionate about.”
