CEF schools provide students of all backgrounds with a high-quality, faith-filled education. Now, a new report underscores the long-term impact of Catholic education on Catholic identity and practice.

The Pillar, a Catholic investigative journalism project, recently released data from a survey they conducted on religious attitudes and practices, with an emphasis on the impact of family life and Catholic education.

Key findings include:

  • 77% of people who attended Catholic school still identify as Catholics, compared to just 69% who went to public school.
  • 36% of those who attended Catholic school still attend mass weekly, compared to just 25% who went to public school.
“There’s a real difference,” said Paula Sanchez, parent of a Bishop Ward High School student and CEF scholarship recipient. “[By attending Catholic school] they want to learn more and look forward to going to church.”

Over dinner with the Archbishop in December, Erin Cronin agreed. Her three children receive CEF scholarships to attend John Paul II School in Overland Park. Cronin has seen the excitement her children have for their faith and it has strengthened her connection to the church.

“Yes, it’s a sacrifice but it’s one that I’m grateful for,” said Cronin. “I’m learning about my faith from my kids.”
