A Season for Rejoicing

Posted on October 11, 2016 in Futures Leadership Council, Upcoming Events

Fall is upon us, and although our KC Royals aren’t in the postseason this year, we have much rejoicing to do! As we gear up for another great Gaudeamus dinner (translated “let us rejoice“), the CEF Futures committee held its first-ever Gaudeamus pre-party event. The event was a success and CEF would like to thank all those who attended.

The CEF Futures is a group of young professionals (ages 21 to 40s) committed to promoting the mission of CEF, and having a lot of fun along the way! Similar to CEF’s core mission, the Futures‘ mission is to ensure that all children attending a CEF school have the scholarship support they need to stay in school, even when their families face unexpected financial difficulties.

This Futures group rallied together to put together a fun happy hour fundraiser at the local establishment of generous friends of CEF, Maloneys Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Overland Park. This event included 60+ guests who gathered to raise scholarship funds to benefit CEF students living in poverty. Maloneys donated the awesome upstairs event space, patio and appetizers, with all guest ticket donations combining to fund 3 CEF student scholarships! These scholarships will allow 3 students currently living in poverty to attend a high-quality, college-preparatory CEF school in Kansas City, Kansas, and surrounding communities.

My wife Abby (Grosdidier) Clement and I were blessed as children to have parents who worked hard to help send us to Catholic schools. The same applies for my brother, Devin, along with many other members on the Futures committee. We all see our involvement with CEF as a great opportunity to pay it forward and celebrate Catholic education. By donating a little time and treasure, we can help make an impact in our community.

The Futures group also will be hosting this year’s Gaudeamus after-party, where all guests are invited to continue the fun after the evening‘s events. The after-party will include live music, drinks, and snacks. This year’s Gaudeamus event is projected to have a sell-out crowd of 1,400+ guests and raise more than $1 million for CEF student scholarships. The Futures group is always looking for other young professionals interested in getting involved.  Additional information is available on our website. CEF is looking forward to seeing everyone at what should be the best Gaudeamus yet!
