New Goals for a New School Year

Posted on July 26, 2016 in Impact of Donors

My daughter is starting Kindergarten this year. It’s such an exciting time as she takes the first steps into the next 12 years of her life. We’re so grateful that she’s going to a great school that we love. We know it will provide not only a great education but the Catholic values and loving environment we desire. We’re blessed to be able to provide this for her and our other kids.

But it always reminds me there are parents out there that unfortunately cannot do the same. Instead of excitement, they’re filled with worry – worry of what the year will bring. Will their kids get the education they need? What will the school environment be like? What sort of values will they teach?

That’s why I’m involved with CEF. Each year, thanks to generous donors like you, we’re able to decrease the number of parents in this situation. Last year, we gave out a record 1,402 scholarships totaling more than $1.3M for students at 20 schools. We also rolled out our tax credit program which enabled 99 additional students to get scholarships to our Archdiocesan schools. In total that’s over 1,500 kids whose parents got to experience the joy knowing they are able to put their kids in a better place; giving them the education and foundation they need to help them break the cycle of poverty.

But there are still more kids out there - 395 more - who need our help. Whose parents are waiting, wishing for that opportunity. With your help we can keep chipping away at that number. CEF is working hard to have another record breaking year. We’ll be providing an estimated $1.4M in scholarships to 1,492 kids, with a goal of $1M for our tax program. These are lofty goals but we’re ready for the challenge.

It’s our dream to make the start of school a joy for every parent, and with your help we can make that happen.
