Catholic Education is a Blessing We Can Share

Posted on March 14, 2017 in Fundraising, Impact of Donors

At the beginning of Lent, my wife and I attended the Church of the Ascension all school Mass on Ash Wednesday. As we were waiting for the service to begin, our children were entering the Church as one family, devoted to Christ.

At that moment, I was reflecting on the Ascension of Jesus stained glass art and enjoying the peaceful assembly of our parish without mobile phones, media, pop stars or commercialism. Life is moving so quickly and it’s easy to fall into the typical human race to acquire stuff and check off our endless to do list.

During the homily, Father Tom Tank reminded us about not just giving up something we want (i.e. candy or pop for the children) but the importance of reconciling our sins and expressing our faith in Jesus by also giving to others who are in need.

Witnessing the ministry of our Church as an integral part of our children’s educational curriculum is the reason why our family is committed to sending our children to Ascension Catholic School and Saint Thomas Aquinas.

We believe that a faith-based education is one of the most important gifts we can provide our children to help prepare them for the kingdom of heaven.

Just as food and shelter are needs for the body, Catholic education provides nourishment for our souls. During Catholic School’s week, one of my children expressed this best with the beautiful picture above.

In this day and age where social media is such a powerful force in the world, making Catholic education a priority is critical to help keep future generations engaged in our faith.

This is why our family supports the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF).  CEF breaks the cycle of poverty, in our community; through faith-centered education one child, one scholarship, one family at a time.

For more than 20 years, CEF has provided more than $16 million in scholarships to attend Catholic schools. It’s one of the best-kept secrets to evangelizing our faith and you can help.

We currently have more than 450 students on our scholarship waiting list.

Luke, chapter 12, verse 34 says, “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”
