The holiday season is upon us and soon our schedules will fill, to-do lists will seem endless and with the hustle and bustle we can easily forget the joy that comes with giving back. There is no better way to celebrate the season than by fellowship with loved ones, gratitude and giving back.
This weekend – Friday, November 10th and Saturday, November 11th, before the onset of Christmas parties, school programs and family dinners, the women of Mothers of Young Children at Curé of Ars will host the 15th Annual Gift Gallery, a fundraising event that provides an opportunity for others to give back simply by buying gifts. This one-of-a-kind shopping event brings together over 40 artisans and vendors, selling unique items that are perfect gifts for family and friends (and perhaps yourself).
On Friday, enjoy early access shopping to our amazing selection of vendors, wine and a complimentary wine glass, appetizers, door prizes and swag bags (while supplies last)! In addition, there will be a special pop-up appearance by Kendra Scott. On Saturday, enjoy festive music, complimentary breakfast food and coffee, and a new gift wrap station! 20% of every dollar spent at the event will be donated to local children’s charities and scholarship funds—this has amounted to more than $230,000 in donations over the past 14 years!
One such organization that Gift Gallery is proud to support is the Catholic Education Foundation. CEF provides scholarships for students living in poverty allowing them to attend Catholic schools located throughout Northeast Kansas. This year more than 1,400 students at 22 schools will receive scholarships totaling more than $1.5 million. Allowing students to attend CEF schools increases their chances of graduating high school from 70% to 98.7%. They are also attending college in much greater percentages compared to their peers in neighborhood schools (98% vs. 33%).
