Faith and Family

I’ve always been told that two of the most important things in life are faith and family. During my childhood, my Mom, Dad, priests, teachers and coaches seemed to make that point whenever they could. Faith and family are so very important and in many ways they are tied together. The Catholic faith is a family, and your family should exemplify what it means to be Catholic.

My parents, Mark and Lisa Ledom, have been involved with the Catholic Education Foundation for as long as I can remember. This organization has given families all over the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas the opportunity to instill those two pillars, faith and family, on an everyday basis through our Catholic schools. The desire that CEF has to give ALL families’ children in our diocese the opportunity to attend Catholic school is the reason my parents care so much about it and the reason I’ve grown to care as well. Both of them, along with countless other supporters, have spent their time, talent and treasure making sure that CEF’s impact is recognizable and something that gives hope to all of the families it supports. That’s what makes CEF so great. It’s like a huge family.

I’ve seen CEF grow dramatically over the years. The continued growth has been inspiring to me, and has shown me that being involved with the CEF Futures is a worthwhile commitment that makes lasting impacts on people in need. My sister, Maddy, a 7th grade teacher at Cure of Ars, has recently joined the CEF Futures as well. We will both be trying help the Futures Committee as it continues to make a positive impact on more and more families each year. We owe a lot to our parents, and the Archdiocese, and want to help continue to improve and grow CEF.

Mark and Lisa Ledom will be honored as Angels Among Us at CEF's Gaudeamus event on October 24.
