"Beyond Grateful" to Serve on Both Sides of CEF

I am a product of Catholic education, having first attended Curé of Ars (K-8) and then Bishop Miege High School.  I have grown as a child of God with my peers and because of my Catholic education, I am continuing to live out my faith each day. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 2014, I knew that I would come back to Kansas City in search of a teaching job in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. I was fortunate enough to teach at Curé of Ars for two years, but there was something still missing.

I grew up hearing about the Catholic Education Foundation from my dad and in 2015, my parents were honored as Angels Among Us at the CEF Gaudeamus event. My brother, Matt, was also involved in CEF Futures at the time and is still an active member today. My family’s dedication to Catholic education, specifically CEF schools, became an inspiration to me. I began thinking about how I could also share my own time, talent, and treasure and knew then that teaching at a CEF school would be a great opportunity for me to not only grow in my own faith, but to help guide my students in their faith as well.

I am now teaching 4th grade at Resurrection Catholic School at the Cathedral in Kansas City, Kansas and see the impact that CEF has on this school and on the students in my class. I am beyond grateful to be on both ‘sides’ of CEF – being a member of CEF Futures allows me to help families carry out their dreams of sending their children to Catholic schools, and being a teacher at a CEF school allows me to see those families’ dreams come true.
