At Holy Family Catholic School, we are extremely honored to be chosen the 2016 CEF School of Excellence. There are so many wonderful Catholic schools in the Archdiocese with such talented staff and great students. We are proud that the hard work and dedication of the entire school is being recognized.
It is hard to believe, but when you read this article the new school year will have been in session for six weeks.
As the school year starts anew, so does our Catholic Education Foundation’s fiscal year.
So, to get this fiscal year started off on the right foot, I want to introduce you to the CEF staff.
On Thursday afternoons, my normal routine is to attend several work meetings, have a one-on-one with someone from my sales team and get home in time to enjoy dinner with my family. A few times a year I get the opportunity to attend our CEF Board Meeting at one of our local CEF Catholic schools. Last Thursday, September 15th, our CEF Board held our meeting at Holy Name Catholic School on Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Kansas.
Over the past 9 years, the Matthews Children’s Foundation has funded 13 CEF scholarships, allowing 13 children living in poverty to attend a CEF school. This support, made possible in partnership with Porter Funeral Homes, has helped families realize their dream of a Catholic education while preparing students for higher educational attainment.
The Catholic Education Foundation Futures committee is a group for young professionals who are passionate about CEF’s mission to support Catholic education. I joined CEF Futures about a year ago after hearing about the group from one of my good friends. Having received a Catholic education myself and having a great experience throughout my time in Catholic schools, I wanted to be able to give back to children less fortunate than I, and give them the same great education experience that I received.
