Meet the Man Behind the {Gaudeamus} Meal!

The Overland Park Convention Center is privileged to host the Catholic Education Foundation’s Gaudeamus event for another year. With an event of this scope it takes many individuals to bring the vision to life, but we wanted you to meet the man behind our food. 

Chef Gunawan Raharja, “Chef Gunny,” received his training from the National Hotel and Tourism Institutes in Bandung, Indonesia, where he graduated top of his class. He also received his Chef de Cuisine certification from the American Culinary Federation. Prior to joining the OPCC team, Raharja served as the Executive Chef at the Doubletree Hotel where he set food and beverage standards and revised existing standards for all 187 locations. 

Catholic Education Foundation’s Gaudeamus event has been a welcomed challenge for Chef Gunny year after year. Many factors must be considered when planning to feed 1,400 event guests. With months of planning leading up to this event Gunny must consider many aspects of the meal when designing a custom menu for Gaudeamus, including material inventory, labor, efficiency when plating, presentation, dietary restrictions, and much more. 

We are looking forward to seeing you all on October 24, 2015, to help raise scholarship dollars for the Catholic Education Foundation.
