“The value of Catholic education is priceless.” Through the sacrifices that our parents Marcia and Nelson Newcomer made, they instilled in me, my younger sister and brother this principle. We were blessed to be able to receive a Catholic education at the grade school, high school, and collegiate levels. The Christian values that developed and the faith that grew within us - through our experiences in the Catholic education community - have served us well as children, young adults, and now as parents. This faith and these values have also ensured the continuation of Catholic education through our own children.

In addition to providing us with a Catholic education, Marcia and Nelson Newcomer also taught us about importance of charity - specifically in providing resources for those less fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity. They taught us that there is no better way to turn these resources into opportunities, within the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, than through the Catholic Education Foundation. Their successful mission has provided nearly $15 million in scholarships over the past 18 years. This contribution to the community goes well beyond the hard dollars provided. It positively impacts the children’s families, environment, and future as they develop into well rounded, Christian adults.

Through their gifts of time, talent, and treasure, our parents taught us the value of Catholic education not only for ourselves, but also for those in need. We all are so thankful for the Catholic Education Foundation. We believe that only through continued involvement can we ensure this world class non-profit organization continues to make a tremendous impact on God’s children- in our community and beyond.
